Default Need More Power

My 97 Eclpise GS is fast, but not off the line. Yes, it is an automatic (I wish is was stick) but thats neither here nor there. Im just wonderin if theres anything besides a turbo kit or supercharger that I can do that wont completely break me (between $200 and $500). Someone out there PLEASE let me know.

You would find that a turbo kit or supercharger and intercooler are the most gain in hp when it comes to engines. But if you already have turbo i would be looking at a bigger intercooler.

if you haven't done any mods yet get an intake ,headers, and at least a catback exhaust that's a good start for your $200-500

and with the 420A engine thats about all there is without alot of money... larger throttle body-helps with the high end... ignition upgrade... msd just came out with a great sport compact version.

so far all ive done is the intake (I started another post about some trouble I was having with it) and catback exhaust. I do all the work myself, with the help of my cousin (who is a mechanic at Midas) so I know exactly whats being done. It is quick, but still not quick enough. I think soo I am gonna throw a turbo kit on there. Ill let ya know when I do it and how it turns out. Thanks for the help and if anyone else has some more ideas, let me know.

Well if you're gonna stay non turbo, then i reccomend you get heades. also reccomend greddy for the headers, i got headers from them and i could feel the difference almost right away. But if you decide to go turbo, go HAHN (hahnracecraft.com) .THey have a stage 1 turbo kit with a 16g turbo that spools up great and will put you at 225 hp, more than those headers and intake will ever take you. Their stage 1 is about 2300.

just be mindful of your compression if you do go turbo... if you dont switch to low comp pistons be ready to put very little boost or have a blown engine...

Well....there ARE other CHEAPER options.
The Jeep 2.4L throttle body mod is a cheap, junkyard trick.
Make your own Home Depot CAI.
Weight reduction.

But, $200-$500 will go QUICK!
Peace,
Phil
