Default Oily smell

My 2000 Montero Limited with 74,000 miles has an oily smell coming out of the vents. Everything looks OK, it has a very minor transmission leak, more like a seep than a leak, so I am not sure if it might be getting on the exhaust or not. Any deas?

You need to trace the source of the leak. Maybe the rear cam plug seals? Oil on exhaust can cause a fire.

Well I cleaned the engine, and I must have spilled oil on the exhaust last time I changed it. Seems fine now.

That happened to a friend of mine with a really nice cobra. the people who changed the oil spilt 1 full quart in the frame assembly underneath. He kept thinking that his pristine cobra was leaking oil. He was pissed until he found out what the problem was... of course then he was pissed at the oil place.

"Pissed at the oil change place"?

Wow! that is rare.
