Default Please Help! 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Oil in Radiator

99 Eclipse Oil pumps into the radiator. The timing belt stripped so I pulled the head and had it rebuilt. Replaced all gaskets, rebuild head, timing and accessory belts. Topped off cooling system and fired it off. Engine sounded good. After about 3-4 minutes I noticed it was puking water/oil out of cooling overflow bottle. WOW!! That's odd! Checked with some buddies and we all agree, it's got to be the Head Gasket.

Pulled head and matched gasket to old gasket. It appears to be the same. All holes match up.

Any Idea as to what may be going on?

If the headgasket is in good shape either you have a warped head or a crack in the block connecting the oil and water jackets. when you replaced the gasket did you have the head checked and planned

I took the head to a machine shop. I don't know what they did other then replace bent valves and rebuild. I pulled the belt, rocker arms and exhaust manifold, unbolted and raised the head and slipped the gasket out to make sure it was put on correctly, It was, so I will finish pulling it off again this weekend and will take it to a shop that can pressure test the oil ports. if it isn't the head than I guess I will pull the block. I had hoped it was something simple. The engine compartment is tight and it is a pretty good job getting the head off, but sometimes life sucks.

Thanks,
Jeff

btw, I read in another post that some of the engines have an oil filter mount that could possibly leak oil into the water. Is that a possibility with the 2.0?

Yeah I quess it could be possible. with the 2.0 you should be able to pull it all off while the engine is still in the car and check the gaskets. Hope it helps.
