okay, were gonna try one more thing... well he did change plugs and wires , and used the most expensive he could get and they were not it, apparently there is a coil that the plugs connect to, and one of them must have a hairline crack in it that we cannot see because it is shocking my mechanic when he touches when the car is on.... so it must be trying to ground and is not going directly to the plug.it is hard to imagine that that could be causing that big of a performance problem! but i guess it is a 4 cylinder. so we are gonna change it out this evening and ill let all of u know if this corrected the problem. god i hope it is.

i guess i should read the posts a second time. you may have been right! well, thing is when i bought the part, it came with 2 coils, and the stems that go down in there. we replaced the one coil that was shocking my mechanic..... and it didnt work .... it still had very bad bad performance issues, so he then put on the whole part that i bought; the second coil, the stems that go down into the plugs and the wires. FINALLY! check engine light went off also... so we dont know if it may have been a faulty wire from the new wires we put on a month ago or a fautly "stem" or that second coil. See, i couldnt get a new coil in on time before my trip on saturday, so i actually found a junk yard which had a wrecked 03 gs. so they sold me the 2 coils with stems & wires.anyway- thanks to all who helped! and especially to - "you", you know who u are . lol i should have read your post better. i would have gotten this solved alot quicker!

Well guys, it went about 2 weeks, and now its starting again!!! what could be causing this problem? is me engine causing the coils or stems to go bad?? liek i said, we replaced the stems and coils and plug wires and it cleared it up - i mean the car was running fantastic! and now teh performance is bad again - the same characteristics- wheni take off from a stop light it sputters, jerks. i dont know whats left to do. i could change them out again i guess, and in another couple of weeks id be dealing with the same problem! do any of you think it may have been a problem at "birth" and that is why the car was traded in? i bought it in februarry of this year, with 42000 miles. and like i said before it had a slight sputter shortly after i bought it, but it wasnt bad, then it kept gettign worse - it seemed like i may have been using bad gasoline in it or had a dirty fuel filter, so i never thought about just taking it back to where i bought it. somebady please help!
