This is my first try at DIY besides basic maintenance.


Is it possible to reach the starter from above? I'd prefer to not go underneath if possible.


Which tools do you recommend that I have ready?


Which are safer, jack stands or ramps?


And, in case I need help, how much should I expect to pay someone to install the starter?

ramps are safer by far...at least providing that you have it secured
i haven't done a starter on one yet but looking at my 6g72 it looks a lot easier from below because the front manifold is in the way of it...and as to paying someone to help what i usually do for that is a minimum of $40 per hour...providing they have mechanical experience and don't break anything...hopefully i was of some help to you
