Sh*t. No spark...
1990 magna, 2.6.
Was going this morning. Think i shorted/destroyed something with immobiliser.
Disconnected everything new.
Coil tests good. And voltage at coil.
Rotor, cap look ok.
Plugs getting wet so fuel in cyls.
When i try cranking 'brake' (rear, not h/brake) light comes on dash. Nevr noticed before.
Igniter (part tim015) SEEMs to be my headache. Tried testing by an old method i knew (hooking to 12v test light, then putting voltage across terminals from dizzy) >fails.
Is there a better test? Am i doing it wrong?
Anything else?

tried hooking in immob.
Immob tests ok (on when switchd, off when active)
dont think i left key 'on' for any lemgth of time. And thatd likely burn the coil anyway.
Believe me, im scratching my head here.
Auto sparky unlikely to carry parts, cant measure more than i have, and i live miles out of town...and short on cash.

so.... it might not have been the igniter after all (150$ later...)
the ignitor is mounted on top of the dizzy, it HAD a metal cover on it. when the cover is on= no spark.
without the cover, but with the screws in place grounding the unit = spark.

i'm not going to pull it apart again and replace the old unit to test my theory, but finding this out late in the day (after spending MONEY), p*sses me off.
so, it seems my immobiliser wiring was not to blame, now that i've f*cking pulled it all out again

oh well. car runs. happy bob.
new plugs, rotor, cap, and an air filter on the way.
can you believe K&N want 240$??
then i have a long, long list of things to spend money on (bring on the lottery)
strut brace and engine mounts are right up there, followed by shock upgrades. i quite like the 4 point link suspension on the rear, but being a FWD it still handles like a ****ing boat.
ooo, and getting a mechanic out would have cost me 90$ before they'd lifted a spanner...
