Spyder Top Problem
I just noticed the last time I we had a rain storm that my back seat had about 1/2 inch to inch of water. Is it normal for the tops to leak this bad. I've only had this car for 4 weeks so I'm really new to it. Any help would be nice.
Ummm no... Ive drove in rain and my car has sat outside in a storm and I didnt have any water leaking in.. Your gonna have to keep your car in a garage or something.. Because you need a new top or you need to find the leak... But if you have that much water in it, then it could be a few leaks.. Or by the windows...
Hey, what's up..I had a '97 Spyder for about 3 years before I bought my '99 GS-T coupe with a sunroof..The top on my Spyder would always leak where the top met the corner of the windshield on the driver's side..What a pain! But the leaking is common on a lot of convertible cars, not just the Spyders..I went as far as replacing all of the elastic in the top and that helped a little bit but not much so I got frustrated with it and traded it on my GS-T coupe..I wanted to get a turbo charged Eclipse anyway..Also keep an eye on your brackets inside the top because mine would like to bend and also my buddy's Spyder's would also...I'll never own another convertible anything again..The cars with the sunroof are the way to go for sure if you like the sunshine..Good luck with it and keep it in the garage during the rain and in the snow and get yourself a beater for the bad weather..That's what I did. But all in all they are fun little cars though and get a lot of looks..Good luck!
I would also check for leaks around the back window and the molding around the smaller back windows on the back driver's and passenger's side. Molding is not cheap to replace on these cars.
