Tire width

RE: Tire width
As far as i know 8 inches is as big as you can go without modifying the wells. I almost bought stock evo rims (17x8) and i know those fit. it also depends on the offsets. My aftermarket rims are 7.5 inches wide, and they barely fit under the fenders.

RE: Tire width
is the stock size 215-50-17?
there are a few problems that you have to be cautious of when going bigger in tire widths...
1. if you buy a tire that is too wide for your rim, you have have severe wear on the middle of the tire
2. if you buy a tire that is too wide for the wheel well, it may rub against the inner wheel well when you turn the wheels...
3. if you buy a wider tire and dont pay attention to the aspect ratio, your tire will be too tall, or too short, setting your speedo off, as well as hurting your acceleration and making it look like its a 4wd (if the tire is too tall)

RE: Tire width
235-35-19=25.48 tall by 9.25 wide
215-50-17=25.46 tall by 8.46 wide
the concern, if you look at your inner fender well, the plastic lining is rounded in at the top...so there might be some clearance issues with that, since its a bit shy of an inch wide.
you may be able to get away with it, or maybe buy a wheel spacer kit..but if you do that BUY A GOOD ONE...that comes with new wheel studs and such...
this will, however, slow your car down because that wheel and tire combo has Got to be heavier, thus taking less effort by your engine to turn them..you think that auto is sluggish now...
