Default 6G74 Derivative

Hypothetically, of course.....let's say someone was so enamored with their 02 VRX that they wanted to keep it running forever. (Or at least for ANOTHER 300K miles) What would be the most recent engine model that could be transplanted into the Diamante engine bay?

Can anyone speak authoritatively (Manybrews?) of the bloodline of the
6G74 engine and its transmission matings?

What are the odds of finding a factory crate engine for the Diamante?

Hypothetically, money is no object!!!

Thanks, MXMIKIE!.....But, I was kinda hoping for a little more detail. For instance, Did the 6G74 continue to be used in other models after the Diamante ended in 04? Maybe in later-year Galants, Eclipses, or the SUVs? Did the Magna continue in Australia after 04? I'd heard that the 6G74 was also the basic 6-cyl engine block used in Kia and Hyundai. True? If so, are they easily transplantable?

I'm not familiar with the 3.8. Is that just a bored-out 3.5? If so, when was that engine in production? What is it's designation?

If worst comes to worst, I've got a Dodge 5.9 that I can make work!

In Australia the Mitsubishi 380 replaced the Magna. It had the 6G75 engine with 175 kw (235 hp). The local Ralliart franchaise did a supercharged version with 230kw. The 6G75 is also used in Pajero's (Montero's) here but with more power and less torque than the transverse version in the 380.
