Default Big PROBLEM w/clutch on'93 3000GT base

Hello all! I'm new to the forum. My big problem led me to seek help. My '93 3000GT (base) won't move when put in gear. It all started one morning when I was driving my son to pre-school. As I took off from my parking lot I noticed it was jerking and struggling to move. It got me to the school fine and on my way back, it worsened. It really struggled to move. I stopped and tried the reverse and it was working until suddenly it stopped. It'd go on gear fine but it won't move. I had to push it home (luckily I was 2 blocks away).
Here's the problem in a nutshell: Car goes in gear but doesn't move. My mechanic thought it was the clutch. He took the tranny off to find a relatively new clutch in there. So before he starts guessing, I thought I should research on my own.

PLEASE HELP!

Does it grind when you try to put it in gear without using the clutch? If so, check your flywheel. Try turn the motor using the flywheel. If the flywheel turns without turning the motor, you may have a broken crank at the flywheel, or related problem. Next, try turning the spindle on the transmission. If it turns freely, you've got a broken gear.

thanks for the quick response! I tried both your suggestions...the flywheel turned the motor 'cause the belts moved when we turned it. The tranny on the other hand, is it supposed to turn at all when I turn the spindle? It turned both directions but not freely. It had some resistance but turned. The guy said it should turn. Another mechanic at the shop is saying that I should change the master and slave cylinders...can these guys be the problem of such symptom? PLEASE HELP!

ps...sorry about the multiple posts, it was out of desperation for quick answers!

WOW! Easy guys...you guys surely don't like the word "forgiveness" or better yet "second chance". It was unfair to assume that I knew better and still decided to post multiple posts to **** some guys off while trying to seek their help...hmm...don't think that'd have been a wise decision on my part. I truly apologised and would do it again...I AM PROFOUNDLY SORRY for the multiple posts. I thought I was posting them in different forum groups in an effort to get someone's advice as quickly as possible. If I had known it'd draw this much attention, I'd done otherwise. As stated in my original message...I am new to the forum. SORRY GUYS! I now know where to post my message next time.

I'm still in need of any suggestion/advice I can get in solving my car problem. Thanks!

Obviously, there are so many things I'm yet to learn about this forum. I didn't know it has a spokesperson named Sebba...clearly my negligence! I'm a faster learner and oh yeah...I AM LEARNING!
