hey everyone, remember me ?

i've been away for a while preparing/working/schooling around alot completely forgetting about the forum.
well, last tuesday i JUST finished going to cruise night. which was free drag races from 5-7.

i made a post a few weeks ago asking what i should do cause i was a virgin @ drag racing and what not and asked for advice.

well to start off, i DID strip the car. every panel and uneccesarry thing i dont need. i practiced launching a few times near my house cause clutch dumping is kinda bad for awd i hear.

so ... when i went to the track, some old *** charger was in front of me slowly driving up in line. i had a feeling i was gon' race him and lucky me ... i did.
so, he burnt out, and i patiently waited for him so we can run.

light turned yellow, i revved pretty high and dumped the clutch at 7k rpm. i had a better reaction time, but he sadly kicked me in the ***** pretty hard being 12.1 @ 114 mph.

i was 15.1 @ 88mph.

BUT NOW ITS AN ADDICTION! my goal is at least 12-13 with decent shifting. (cause im a "bad shifter" ... says my cousin)

We are good : ) 15.1 with mods... and a stripped interior... ahh well. Practice makes perfect bro!

 

Yea man I only did a 12.3 at 114mph my shifts were super slow and my launches were not as good as they should be

 

what do you have done? and i'm assuming ur driving a GSX from ur s/n? (there are 1 or 2 ppl on here w/ 'GST' in their s/n and they are running rs and gs that's why i ask.)

 

what was your 60ft. Because in an AWD you dont want to just dump the clutch

 

^^ true. my friend w/ his VIII found that launching between 5100 and 5300rpm's was the best launch RPM.

 

its a 99 gsx. injen intake, some un known aftermarket brandless catback.

temp was 82 degrees outside relative humidity = 0 and absolute barometer is 29.05

 

slip the clutch, never dump it. You did good. Keep on with the practice, and you should cut that time down for sure.
