dual exhuast

Default dual exhuast

whats the deal with dual exhuast i see it every where but what are the benefits if there are any? does it just look pretty or does it benefit the engine?

On most 4 & 6 cylinder cars dual exhaust is more looks than a need. Some highly modified 4 & 6 cylinder engine might require dual exhausts but you won't see these on the street. Once you get into mildy modified 8 cylinder engines dual exhausts tends to become a need rather than just a look. Reason is pretty simple, the more cubic inches equals more air needing to get out of the engine and in turn bigger exhausts and/or dual exhausts are needed.

and remember...just becuase you see two pipes coming out the back doesnt mean that its an actual dual exhaust...most small engine sports cars that look like that are just actually split into two pipes from one

The majority of factory dual exhausts are not "true" dual exhausts either, they will usually have a muffler with a dual outlet. True dual exhausts are usually a result of headers being put on V8's
