Flooding on passenger side floor - Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2000 car
I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2000 car - last few months, every time it rains, water leaks in and floods the floor on the passenger side - I took the car to a body shop guy, who hosed the car and confirmed that the leak comes from behind the glovebox on the passenger side - took the car to a mechanic who removed the glovebox, but could not find any leaks on the firewall there - but he said the water seems to be coming from the left of the glovebox - how do I find it and fix it ?? the water has already messed up my audio system amplifier - the dealer tells me that diagnosis would cost $600 to remove the entire dashboard to look for any leak/hole on the firewall and anything further will cost more - is there a way I can fix it myself ?? thanks in advance

Just do it yourself
Do what the other guy did hosing it with water. take out the glove compartment and seal with a Silicone I think you can buy those in Autozone or any auto parts store. it is clear silicone for cracks or some are blue too.
it is very very easy to fix. ask some to hose it for you and you inside the car. I bet it is coming from the air cabin filter.

Hi
thanks
the mechanic removed the glovebox and could NOT find any pinhole or crack behind the same
also he removed the airfilter which was dirty but BONE DRY!!
so the leak is NOT coming from there - but its definitely coming from the LEFT of the glove box somewhere
to diagnose that the entire dash has to be removed, but that wud cost me at least $600

Same problem here, but I found the leak
I have exactly the same problem with a Eclypse GST 2003 convertible. Fortunately I live in Florida, so after a rainy day it comes a sunny one and I dry my car by going topless (well, the car)
The leak is in the junction of the window with the top. I wonder why there are no small holes in the floor to allow the water flow away in such an event. Why if I move to San Francisco?
Anyway, is there any practical way to dry off my car any faster than just put it under de sun? (I am thinking on actually drill those holes…)
