Default L200 v8 rover

Hi there, i have a 1983 l200 4x4 ute that has had the front diff removed and has been fitted with a 3500cc rover v8 and auto trans, but it still has standard rear diff and is reeving far too high at highway speeds not sure of the revs but i have to do 140kph to do 100kph! Is there any way of changing the gear ratio/pinion if so from what model? Or????

Any ideas would be much appreciated
Cheers
Josh

I have a similar problem ,though I have fitted a 2.6 Pajero and gearbox to my '84 L2004wd.the diff ratios of the Pajero, L2004wd & L3004wd van (all the same years)are the same (38to8 teeth count of crown and pinion)
maybe diffs from a diesel?
Info on this anyone?

I take it that you are going to leave it as a 2wd? if so why don't you source a diff center from a car with a lower ratio ( say a 3.5 to 1...) and have a diff specialist adapt it to the outer axles of the L200
Find out the ratio of the doner car and match that......your little rocket will FLY!!!!
on the speedo, an instrument tech may be able to readjust the speedo to suit the new diff and gearbox.
alternatively, what i am going to do (eventually that is ) is change the speedo to one that can be changed to suit different situations (such as VDO)
I am rebuilding the dashboard to a fully instrumented set up
