low profile tires
Go with something like 18x8 in. wheels and 225/35/18 tires. I love Nitto tires. They are priced reasonably and hold the road pretty well. I have about $600-$700 into my 18 inchwheels and tires but that is only because I got an awesome deal on my wheels (practically stole them) and bought my tires "used" but they only had 70 miles on them when I bought them so I got a great deal on those as well.
my suggestion is to get 17's or 18's and get low profiles, but not super low, i just got performace tires on my 17's but they are just a little bit in the "low profile" catigory, but i commute every day, and have super low profile tires will be a rough ride, for the most part. I have kuhmo tires, and they have great grip.
guy i work with had 18's with 225/30's, looked like a rubber band around the rim, too low, he complained about the rough ride too. he just got 225/40r18'sthey look great, thats the size i plan on gettin soon as uncle sam gives up the money he owes me!
I own 18" motegi's (picture somewhere around this forum, browse my posts) wrapped up in 235/40's kumho, i get really nice grip, problem is the rough ride and that everything suspension lasts a bit less than with common tires, but trust me, if you want low profile, bigger rims, they make any dsm look really nice and if youre broke, you can find them at used tire shops (expereicne hehe)
