Was wondering on the life of the mitsu engines...the 3000gt DOHC 24V engine in particular..if it was moderatly taken care of how long should it last? my friends own hondas and toyotas mostly and their cars run forever but idk about mitsu engines...im thinking of buying a 3000gt dohc with 120k miles on it for 5k but my friends dont know anything about mitsu engines and are telling me i shoulnt get it.

 

Is the car worth 5k? have you driven it? what year and model is it?

 

1995 MITSUBISHI 3000GT, 123K mi, pw, tint, am fm, pdl, p/mirrors, ac, cc, 2 owners, 120K service over $2000 completed, new brakes, rotors & pad, 19" R-1 racing wheels, new tires, overall exc, $6500....and no i havent taken it for a test drive, its in arizona and im over by chicago lol

 

I checked out kbb.com and it's around 5k for the year and milage but it also depends on the condition. For the amount of miles, you could probabaly get a better one with less miles. Check out carmax.com. hit me up, also an Illinois resident

My sister had a 92 Stealth, and she put 150,000 miles on it, and it still never used oil. She never had trouble with it, ever and it was a DOHC 3.0.

 

I guess everyone have their own luck with there vehicles depending on how well they maintain it. The 3.0 Double Over-head Cam is a strong engine. My first car, a 1990 Honda Accord EX had 223K miles before I gave it away. Even with the oil leaks it still held up perfectly and still runs today.
