Default MITSU GAS MILEAGE

For some reason, with a completely stock engine, my eclipse isnt getting the gas mileage i believe it should. How much are you all getting on your cars and what could I do to improve

(I have manual option. If I use it would it better my gas mileage?)

How aggressive do you drive?

Do you have a check engine light?

What is your MPG, and how are you calculating it?

Im not an aggressive driver at all. I actually stay pretty well at the speed limit cuz i recently got pulled over and got a ticket. I calculated it by filling up and seeing how many miles I can drive until Im empty again on a 16.3 gallon tank. I was only getting like 16 mpg?! (city)

when I checked it last, I needed an oil change and my alternator was just about going bad. (got a new one since)

Well get an oil change, there is no excuse in not doing that.

I would simply divide your 'trip' by how many gallons you put in the next time.

No check engine light?

127k and no no check engine light

my excuse for not having an oil change yet is I dont have money. Ive been burnt out for the last 3 months. (new ac compressor, 2 new alterntors, labor, labor again, new head lights and tail lights, and one speeding ticket....and im only 17 working 30-35 hrs every 2 weeks haha)

You should be getting "around" 30mpg high way. If your not blowing black smoke your not rich. Rich would = to much gas being used. The higher RPM you ride at the worse gas milage you get. I seen some people clame to get only around 20mpg! Thats like a V12!

Honestly if you can't afford a 30ish dollar oil change at Wal Mart then you shouldn't be driving the car.

I am betting an o2 sensor is to blame.

How do you figure that oil doesn't play into that?
