Do anyone know where I can get a OBD1 Scanner for my 1992 Mitsubishi Mirage. I have called a few auto parts places out here, just to be told that they don't carry and can't order any for my car. I've tried another autopart place, and I was told that they have an OBD1 & OBD2 combination for my car that would cost in the upper $200.00. I'm not looking to pay that much money on a OBD scanner. There are only two places out here, where I live that could check my car. I'm sure they will use a OBD1 & OBD2 combination scanner or they probably even have a OBD1 scanner that can scan my car, but they charge a lot, just to give me a code and I rather buy my on, just in case, I need it later on.

I really want to know why my check engine light is coming on.

 

That's the cheapest price for the OBD 1 AND 2. Some cost thousands of dollars.

That is the right price.

Why do you need a OBD. if you are going to use it once? They might charge $26.00 to $70.00 to plug the OBD on your car and to get the codes and reset it.

I wanted to get me an OBD1 scanner, so that I can see why my check engine light is coming on and just in case later on down the road, the light comes on again, after I have the first problem fix.

But, I don't have to buy an OBD1 scanner, I found out that I don't need a OBD scanner to gets the code from my car. That's good news.

 

What is the use of OBD1 scanner? Is it needed for every vehicle?

An OBD1 Scanner is used on cars 1995- below. Certain scanners go with certain cars. We would need an scanner made for import cars.

If your check engine lights comes on, the scanner would give you a code to help you know what's wrong with your car.

If your car is a 1996- up model, you can't use go to Autozone or even Advance autoparts and have it read for free.
