Default CAI - can I go cheap?

There are some CAIs selling for $30-40 shipped on eBay, generic/no brand name. Then there's K&N or AEM, which seem to be $100+ at the lowest in a Froogle search.

I am willing to spend the extra money...if I need to. And I definitely want something that won't cause hydrolock. But do I need to? Is this another instance of a generic working as well as the name brand?

New?

I was gonna look at some of these company websites to get stats on the fuel economy improvement from a CAI, but I'm sure it's hyped up.

What is your real world experience with CAI and improved mpg? More power would be great too, but right now I'm just concerned with getting the best mpg I can.

your probably not going to notice the difference in either area. It's an Injen intake. Was used for a bit, then the headgasket blew.

You should mention that your HG blowing was in no way related to the intake, lol. THats a good deal though.

Hey, mine's already getting the fuel economy of a Hummer, a blown head gasket would be a minor annoyance...

You say I won't notice any difference, though? Why even get one then? lol
