Default Check Engine Light

I have a 97 GS Eclipse and my check engine light has just recently come on. The code is P1294 and reads injector high side open - bank 2/target idle not reached. When I asked some local mechanics they said its because I have an after market cold air intake, and that if I just put my stock one back on, the light would go off. They contiuned and said that it is drawing too much air in and the sensor is being burned out and eventually will go bad. The only thing is, I have had the cold air intake on for over a year and never had problems before. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or knew what I should do?

Clear it and see if it comes back on.

I cleared it and I seemed to stay off for awhile, and then when I was sitting at a light, it came back on again. I have cleared it twice and both times it came back on.

The only thing I can tell is that idle kinda funny, in that it doesn't just make a constant sound, its kinda hard to explain but instead of just constanly pushing out exhaust it almost sounds like it loses power then gets it back, then loses it and then gets it back, very rapidly. I wish I could put in a sound clip since its hard to explain. Its almost like a chugging sound.

sounds like you might have a leak somewhere. Maybe in the intake manifold or something. Is it a short ram or CAI

Its a CAI, I bought the tubing off Ebay and then put on a K&N airfilter.

I would definetly check around the intake manifold and see if you have any cracks.

I looked around the intake manifold as best as I could since its kinda in a tight spot in the back there. I didn't see any cracks but I could have easily missed some if they were on the underside of it. Should I take it to a mechanic at this point?
