Electric supercharger?
One day while flipping through Import Tuner I saw an add for an electric supercharger called E-ram (i think) and was just wondering if it really works and if it would be worth the $300 dollars? If it works like they said then I should get about 6hp/tq to the wheels and if thats so that would be a prety simple bolt on if you ask me that would pay itself off? Just wondering your guys opinions and thanks for any replys.
They only really work good in conjunction with one of those turbonator things http://www.turbonator.com. Get great gas milage while adding some HP. [sm=badidea.gif]
This thing is another POS!!
The Knight charger is the only real electric supercharger and it needs some serious electrical power! This thing uses a whole 833 watts!! If that tiny motor ever died, you would have the worst gas milage, lol. What a POS.
To anyone looking in, unless these things can vary their speed to match the motors need of air, at least , X2, they will only starve you motor or air at WOT and possibley at half WOT. Just remember that a real supercharger increases it's air induction with pulleys. A turbo utilizes exhaust gases and the air pushed to the motor can be increased with a boost controller.
That E-ram and every product just like it is either on or off and that's it. The air pushed by this POS isn't regulated even by the alternator signal.
they suck, i'm one of the idiots that tried it once. . . doesn't work. even if one did work, it would only be able to push air towards the bottom end, once you get towards the top end i don't think any electric fan would be able to suply the air needed for the engine..... not enough air = bad/slower
