Default High Flow Cat and Test Pipe

I think that I might get a high flow cat for my car because I'm going to buy exhaust sometime this week and I'm going to be buying a dp from roadrace engineering with a high flow cat. I have heard that the high flow cats will collect a lot of carbon, so I am wondering if that is true and if it is can you clean it? I am also wondering how the test pipe will sound, I heard its a lot louder.

The carbon build up is all in your tuning man. If your not getting enough fire in your cylinders to burn up alll the mixture then you will deffinatly have some build up. There really isn't anyway to clean that out. Just make sure that you air/fuel ratio is set to specs and you hae some good spark plugs and all cylinders are firing in the right order and on time. Good luck it should sound SIC!

What kind of exhaust? hopefully apex n1 because i believe that is the only exhaust that is a direct bolton for roadrace's downpipe and highflow cat. And yea I dont think that the buildup can really be cleaned just make sure your engine is running in tip top shape new plugs etc. As for the sound of the test pipe, yes it is loud. Personally I don't think its worth it to drive around with a testpipe. It would be nice to put on for an extra 10hp for the track, but it sounds like crap an you'll get sick of the sound, not to mention it smells. Also, if cops are a problem where you are from thats a hefty fine for getting caught with no cat. In cali i think its like $2000

I have an off-road Xpipe on my mustang, on that it sounds amazing but I don't know if I'd like that sound on this as much. Go with the cat, especially since you're in cali.
