Default HP Increase from headers

Found a site or 2 that have run dynos with headers and they don't seem to make much improvement. Any experience out there? Seems like the NT car doesn't respond well to bolt ons in general. Just getting into this so i have very littl einfo so far. Is the head and intakea big restriction?

depends on what you mean by a big improvement. NA eclipse dont make near as much power with bolt ons as the turbo eclipses because most improvements for turbo cars involve increasing boost or airflow, something much more difficult to do with no turbo. the key for NA cars is good tuning, but first you need to squeeze out every horsepower you can get with bolt ons, and headers are usually a pretty good bolt on for those cars, but design makes much more of a difference for NA which is why headers can get so expensive.

Yeh, headers for N/A cars give anywhere in the neighborhood of 7-15 h.p (guesstimate dependingon the app.) Turbocharged cars benefit 15-25 h.p with downpipes

Cool. The review I found only got about 5 and that was after tuning. Pretuning they had 2 I believe. 7-15 would be more my expectation. I was figuring 5-10%. Do headers require tuning to gwet the A:F right? I'm not familiar with this computer yet.

Any recommendation on tuning software for the Eclipse? This is my 1st shot at a 4cyl. tuner car.

A popular tuning method in the vdub world, for n/a cars, is to increase the compression ratio. In that case though you're looking at rebuilding the engine with hardened parts. Enjoy that adventure.

headers will do quite a bit for an N\A car that is where the most hidden HP will be for you to get, but yes sound will be much louder too
