new header and exhaust
hey lisen i have a quick question....i have save up enough money to buy headers and exhaust for the car and they sitting in the house right now...my question is installing the....i have install muffler befor so that wont be a problem they are stright up bolt on anyways...but what about the headers...are they bolt on also...do i ned to take any careful step to install them or should i just have the install at a shop...just weighting out my options....it for a 99 rs eclipse
RS and GS have the same motor just so you know. the "exhaust" that you bought, is it a Cat-Back system? they are both bolt on and extremely easy to put on. One word of advise before you go taking your stock exhaust manifold off is to SATURATE them with wd40 first. Mitsubishi bolts have a reputation for stripping off and out unles they are soaked first. what kind of header and exhaust did you get? let me just fowarn you that you aren't going ot see much gain.
well i agree with everything that has been said accept for the fact that they have the same motor. the motor is actually what seperates the two from being different models the rs has a 4g64 sohc which is a mitsubishi engine and the gs has a 420a dohc which is basically a dodge motor. and ive done both headers and exhaust on my gs and it is easy but for the headers there is a plate over the radiator fan i believe it is that you will have a hard time clearing. most people ive known just take it off. just with headers intake exhaust and chip you can run a 15 flat at the track. its not fast but is better than stock
