Default No sound unless headlights are on

I got a problem with my stereo, the headunit turns on fine and appears to work fine but there is no sound....unless i turn on my headlights/running lights.....must be a goofy connection problem has anyone else had this problem?? where should i look? is there a place where the wires run together and may have got messed up, i did have a problem when this started when my ac line got clogged and there was water on the passenger side.....

please help this is an anoying problem

water damage you say? that does all kinds of screwy things to electronics, you might have an expensive problem on your hands. ask someone at circuit city or something if they have any advice, and by the way "sure bring it in we'll check it out" isnt advice. ask around

Something is shorting.... theres nothing anyone will be able to tell you without going over the car with a volt meter to find the short.

lol yeah, i had this same problem with my jeep, You wired the power to be coming from your dash so it wont give it enough power to have sound unless the switch has been hit.
simple fix- just take power from a different source =P
Let me know if this worked or not

Do you have the factory radio in your car? If you have an aftermarket one pull it out and make sure the orange wires on the car harness arent connected to the radio harness. Those are for you dimmer, this most likely could be cause your problem.Any other questions about it you can PM me.
