Choosing a Cam?

Default Choosing a Cam?

I am looking into changing out my stock cams that will give me a little more power. I have a 2.0L '99 eclipse GS. I am looking for a nice fast road cam, but I don't want a racing cam. Anu suggestions on any cams and/or where to get them would be much appreciated.

264 intake/272 exhaust ... thats how i see it.

Hey thanks! I'll check those out. I know the increase in power wont be significant but will it be noticeable? Is it even a worth going through the effort to change these out? Where is a good place to get cams such as those. I have been wasting a lot of time online trying to find quality place to buy.

unless you have 5k willing to invest, i wouldn't even buy them. you will only see 2-3whp out of the cams. if you are really looking for some power i would sell the car and get a gs-t or gsx. b/c the only real ways to make ur car fast are to rebuild the bottom end for nitrous. or throw a turbo on it (which will require a bottom end rebuild after 8psi.

rcjr is right, or since your car is a 99(the prettiest of the bunch) you could swap in a GST drivetrain, dunno how hard that would be.

ok i gotta question on this topic...how do you know the numbers if your just buying the two gears..or how do you change them..andsecond ive seen cam gears for sale that say add like 10-15 hp..whats up with all that

andrew you are a tool. GS-T drivetrain.... what would that do for this guy? nothing. and if you were trying to spit out - swap in a GST motor than use the search button and go read. kmauger... here's the point i'm trying to make, you may be able to get 10-15CRANKhp out of the cams but if you are talking WHEELhp than you are only looking at abotu 5whp. if you really wanna go buy these than you can find them at www.slowboyracing.com, www.cimotorsports.net, www.stillen.com, www.horsepowerfreaks.com have fun.
