Default Flywheel question??

I was wondering if anyone could lead me in the direction of what type of lightweight flywheel would be great to put in my '91 Eclipse 2.0 GS and a reasonable cost??

Also, can anyone help me on understanding the difference of the stock flywheel vs. lightweight flywheel??

Thanks.

Well for starters, the diffrence between a light weight flywheel, as oppose to the stock one is quite simple. It has to do directly with less rotational mass. You figure the flywheel is spun by the crankshaft which is powered by the cylinders. The less weight the cylinders have to push due to weight, the more power that is tranfered throught the drivetrain and on to your wheels.

For most 4 cylinders, and 8-10 lbs flywheel is usually wha they sell. If your putting down a good number of power, your best option would be the "prolite" which is usually the lightest. Exactly how much your going to end up paying varies. Anywhere from 100-350$

good luck

it absolutely does

It takes weight, fromt he drivetrain, transferring more power to the wheels. And allowing horsepower to develop earlier
