1992 3000 gt SL
Hello,
I am looking for a Crank Angle Sensor for my GT. I got a mechanic who says the one I have is bad, and that is why it shuts off on me from time to time and won’t turn on until it cools. Has anyone had any similar problem? Anyone have one for sale?

You can take your chances with a junkyard unit. I think Diamonte's from the same time period had the same engine. On a 92, it should have a combination crank/cam angle sensor on the passenger side of the engine bay, on the rear head. They are quite easy to change out.
You can also buy one from the dealer. I've found Rockville Mitsubishi has as competitive prices as anyone.

They had no problem shipping to me in Ks.
The CAS is quite simple to change. Here is a how-to. http://www.stealth316.com/2-cas-91-92.htm

Actually, it can be caused by a couple of things. A broken wire on top of one of the struts. Normally it's the front ones, since people have a tendancy to lean on the strut cover when working on the car. Or it is caused by the ECS computer in the passenger side of the hatch area, near the fuel fill line. You'll have to remove the "tub" by the spare tire to access the screw that holds the ECS access cover. You can reach in there and unplug the wiring harness'. That's easy to do, and will let you know if that is causing your running issues. If you car starts running OK, send the ECS out for rebuild. You also need to pull your ECU to see if the caps are leaking or have been replaced. Leaky capacitors on these cars is a very common problem, and will cause all sorts of odd issues.
At the very least, you need to unplug the ECS. If it is malfunctioning, it will burn up your ECU, and from I have read, deem it unrepairable.
If you plan on keeping the car for any length of time, I highly recommend getting a Service Manual from either a dealer or 3sx.com. It's the best 100 bucks you can spend on your car. Some people get the Manual on CD because it it fairly cheap, but I prefer the hardcopy. Don't fool around with a Haynes/Chiltons manual...if they even have them for these cars.
In the meantime, browse Stealth316.com. Even though you are non-turbo, many of his how-to's will work fine for you DOHC engine. http://www.stealth316.com/0-home.htm
