1994 3000GT SL
I BOUGHT A 94 3000GT SL WITH 90K MILES ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO AND I HAVENT HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT REALLY, JUST CHANGED THE BELTS,STARTER,SWITCH FOR REAR WIPER, AND PUMP FOR FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID. NOW IT HAS ALMOST 96K AND I WANT TO ASK ABOUT THE BASIC PERFORMANCE PARTS. I UNDESTAND COLD AIR INTAKE IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR A 3000GT, BUT I SEEN INJEN IS COLD AIR, BUT ITS REALLY SHORT AIR, OR SHORT RAM, ALSO I SEEN K&N BUT ITS ONLY THE CONE ITSELF, NOT WITH THE ALUMINUM POLISHED PIPE LIKE THE INJEN INTAKE COMES IN. I SEEN THE INJEN FOR ABOUT $165. AND THE K&N FOR LIKE $140 OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I DONT WANT TO MESS TOO MUCH WITH INTERNAL ENGINE MODS LIKE CAMGEARS,BLOCK,ETC... AND PULLEYS. BORLA EXHAUST FOR SL IS ABOUT $800-900 AND THATS EXPENSIVE! RACING CHIP I HEAR IS ALSO EXPENSIVE. I HAVENT SEEN EXHAUST HEADERS ANYWHERE FOR A SL AND I HAVE NOT SEEN A DOWNPIPE. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT PERFORMANCE MODS I CAn DO THAT ARE BASIC AND NOT REALLY EXPENSIVE. INTAKE I WOULD SAY COULD GIVE ME FROM AROUND MAYBE 8-15 HP, EXHAUST MAYBE 12-20? WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK. For the 3000GT, "performance mods" and "not really expensive" don't belong in the same sentence together. Exhaust can cost a nice amount. The only relatively inexpensive mods that come to mind are iridium sparkplugs, intake, and ignition wires...that's all that I can think of.
