ok so im 16 now and in roughly 2 years i'll be 18 and will be purchasing my first car...really i want an affordable sports car.i've narrowed my 2 cars down to either a 1998 eclipse or a 1995 3000gt vr-4(or any 3000 with twin turbo or awd).what car do you guys think will be a better starter car?and i really like the 1997 model 3000's..........any big cons on those?

ok well i am 15 and am getting a vr-4 in about 9 months. however i am going to take care of it. if you want a car to run the **** out of get the dsm. but if you are a careful good driver that takes care of his car go for the vr-4

 

oh and an NA dsm will be a HELL of alot better on gas.

 

dsm?i've never heard of it.is that like an engine type?like dohc or sohc?...lol and i go to an automotive school

 

um a dsm is diamond star motors. lol aka 1st and 2nd gen eclipses, lasers, and talons for NA i would suggest goin with the 420a(2.0l NA) eclipse. and if you want turbo obviously the 4g63(2.0l turbo)

yea im leaning towards an 2001-2003 eclipse..v-6 version.anyone know how much the mpg for em are?

 

get the 4 cylinder 3g it gets my brothers gets 32mpg. and you do know... that generation of the eclipse is not turbo?

 

[].no turbo...lol now this is making me wanna get a 98 eclipse gsx model.but how does your bros v-4 handle?and hows the launch on it.if you tried it and are the 3rd gen engines hard to upgrade and what not?

 

i have a first gen vr4 and i love it. its a 93 but it still launches great personal unless ur gettin a gsx go vr4 all the way first gen 2, or , 3rd all worth it bro
