Hi
I recently put an engine in my 91 3000GT VR4.It came from Japan and has 35,000 miles on it...It is a very strong motor...But it is overboosting.. I replaced the mass air flow sensor and the crankangle sensor to no avail... When it overboosts ,the check engine light will come on which is the knock sensor.The engine will idle high and it seems too run rich..If I disconnect the battery it will reset everything to normal until I get in to it again... It sounds like it has a leak of boost also when I give it throttle also...All the vaccum lines to the waste gates are fine ,and I replaced the wastegate control solenoid...Could the ECM be faulty? or am I just missing something simple? I am kinda new to these cars , and any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Go get a manual boost controller and hook that up, with a boost gauge. Check the wastegates, see if they are locked up. Sounds to me like you have the hoses routed wrong, but you really can not do anything until you get a boost gauge.

 

Vacuum leak somewhere??

...at idle, spray your vacuum lines with starting fluid...if your RPM's soar, replace that line.
