RE: 3000gt vr4 vs Skyline r34
There are ways to legalize them.
There are a bunch of differences with the two cars. Assuming we are talking about the R34 'GTR', what you have is a super complicated race car. The AWD is split 10-90 i believe, you can also make it 2 wheel drive at the touch of a button. Even though the car comes stock with 286hp, the potential is endless. They are just amazing cars, in handling, performance, and reliability. The electronics that come with them really completes the car.
If you buy one that is already legal you are looking at at elast 50k. Props to you if you find one any lower (my guess is that it wouldnt be a GTR) and also, importing performance parts and or replacement OEM parts will be fun.
All together there really is no comparison, they are in entirely different leagues.

i agree with the stealth. r34's are definitely illegal in the united states. from what i've read, the only skyline that you would even have a slim chance with is the 1995-1996 r33. i'm pretty sure they do allow those. sure you can buy an r34 but the only reason the other owner would have it is probably for race tracks only. if youre looking for a better engine then just go with a supra. you'll save a ton of money and a ton of time with paper work and you still get a more powerful engine then the vr4

I'm not saying there aren't R34's running around that have tags...but, there was some sort of tom-foolery involved with getting them licsensed.
The R33's can be made legal. The R32's do not have air bags, therefore are not legal. The R34's never went through the proper crash testing, therefore they are not legal either. I've done some homework on this guys...
