3kgt vr4 won't charge!-help!
1994 3k vr4. new opt batt, altinator 6 months old. alt bench tested three times, they say it's fine! changed altinator relay, traced wiring! thats ok! The problem! car starts and altinator is charging. a few minutes later three lights come on dash " e-brake light, batt light and low windshield fluid light " when that happens the car is still charging however after a few moments the three lights go off and then NO CHARGE! the car is now running off the battery and killing it fast. I 'm tierd of guessing what to do and to broke to go to mitz right now. hoping someone can help. I figure the three light code means some thing but can't get help here. Can anyone help?
my guess is either the charger... or the ECU or something else is shorting.
One way to narrow it down would be to make a list of what is turned on at the time. Like radio, A/C o ranything electrical. And test it by turning it off.... and then trying and seeing if it does it to try and locate a fault.
If nothing happens then i would say somthing electric is shorting.
Is everyting grounded correctly?

did not get a chance to change ground points yet but just remembered something. awhile ago on the way to work i smelled "electical burn smell" i was not sure it was coming from my car. after a few moments the smell went away. it may have been the same week that problem accured. I cannot use the car now but boy do i miss it. anyway my point if i burnout something would changing my ground points help? i guess i won't know until i try.
Depends what you burned out. You deffenatly burned something. I would check your grounds for signs of fried wires and change the points just for the sake of eliminating one more possibility.
After that... its all upto you to find what is fried. Just hope its not your ECU or something.
