90 GTO Blowoff Valve and Boost Questions
Hey all. I'm running a stock 3L twin turbo engine except for a K&N air filter and jasma catback exhaust. fuel delivery system is bone stock. My questions are:
A) will my car idle/run funny if I put on a blowoff valve that dumps to the atmosphere as opposed to recirculates?
and
B) Assuming a stock'ish setup, what kind of boost pressure should I be trying to aim for (safeley!) when i throw in my manual boost controller?

You shouldn't have any problem running an open loop BOV. An open BOV will cause you to run rich at shifts, since the ECU doesn't know to adjust for air that is supposed to be there.
10-12 lbs of boost is all you want to try to run without fuel upgrades and maybe a logger.

an open loop BOV wont mess with my fuel mixture enough for me to notice? i heard that my car would idle or even drive funny and also burn @$$loads of fuel (will it run that rich?)...are the GTO/3000/RT BOV's even recirculating ones?

RE: 90 GTO Blowoff Valve and Boost Questions
Not at idle, no. The BOV only functions at boost, so at idle and cruising speeds it would be closed. All the BOV really does is relieve intake pressure so the turbo's don't experience backpressure when shifting and lifting off the throttle at boost. The compressors build up quite a bit at pressure, it needs to go somewhere when the throttle closes.
