Default Car Dies

Ok, i have a 1992 3000gt SL 5spd, it has about 50,000 miles on it and I just bought it used from a private dealer. Today when i was driving to a redlight, i was in 3rd gear and i pressed in the clutch then the car just dies. I started it back up and it ran fine, when i got back home i let it idle, after about 5 mins the car makes like a popping sound then the idle drops and raises then the car dies again. I did this twice and the same thing happened, when i bought the car, the guy said that he had a new clutch installed, the car didnt overheat while it was idleing. Can anyone help me out w/ this problem.

edit: can anyone tell me what my car should idle at, thx

it should be idling bewtween 700-1100 RPM. As far as whats wrong, I would have to hear it and tinker with things to know. Definitely doesnt sound like a clutch problem. More like Idle controller or something. Where you located?

i live in la palma, CA, also there seems to be a popping sound from the exhaust every once in a while, could that be from worn gaskets?

I am in CA too...where is La Palma exactly? I am not sure, I would have to hear it. MAYBE from gaskets, but highly unlikely. car wouldnt stall out if its NA from exhaust leaks.

la palma is about 30-60 minutes away from Los Angeles, its next to Buena Park and Cerritos. Can you tell me where the ECU is located? I posted in other forums and they told me that is was the capacitors burning out. Would you know where to buy some new ones? Thx for the help also

the Ecu is located behind the stereo. You need to take out the side panel on the floor on the drivers side, and the stereo of course to get to the ECU. I am not sure about it being the capacitors. If you need help there are a LOT of people with these cars in your area. Go to SoCal3s.com and introduce yourself. Lots of knowledgable and helpful people there. If I still lived there i would help it out myself. Someone also might have an ECU for you if you just wanted to buy a replacement. Replacing capacitors isnt easy for everyone. good Luck.
