Default Custom downpipe

Alright, I'm thinking of doing a custom 3inch downpipe for my 3000gt. I'm keeping the two exhaust so it's not as loud as a single. Anyone have any suggestion on how I should be welding it? I'm thinking of welding it as a V-pipe with the two separate exhaust so less air restriction but I'm going to have to custom the whole exhaust system starting at the cat converter. My cousin which also own a 3000gt said it's better to just use the stock dual exhaust pipe and just weld on the 3inch custom downpipe to the stock exhaust pipe then weld my two new 4inch mufflers (making the exhaust pipe after the custom downpipe to curve as a U). So I need some suggestion which way is better. Thank you.

Yes, It is going to be louder but not as loud as a single exhaust but, that's not any concerns. What I'm deciding on is to either make the custom downpipe split into a V after the pipe, or should I just weld it with the two stock muffler pipes, by doing that it's going to be like a U connecting to the two new 4inch exhaust.
