I just bought a 3000gt about 3 days ago. ( see attachment pic.) it has 76,000 original miles and is in really good condition.
Unfortunetly I forgot to ask the old fart who sold me the car if it was the SL or Base, and I lost his number!! How can I tell? And what is the difference? I know yall might think I'm dumb askin this question but its my first 3000GT and i'm only 17. All I know is that its has a V6 24 valve DOHC.

 

The easiest way to tell if it is SL or Base is if you look under the hood. If it is an SL, It will have DOHC; if it is a base model (excluding '96) it will be a SOHC. In '96, they did not make a sohc 3000gt. Write back and tell us what it is.

They did not make a SOHC 3000gt until after the 96 model year. Prior to that, they were all DOHC. You should have a badge on your right rear under the tail lamp that says SL. I think some options were available on the SL that were not available on the base.

 

No it doesnt have the badge there. But then what are the features that the SL has that the base doesnt? Because I have leather seats and all that good crap in mine.

I don't think you could get a sunroof and automatic climate control on the base. What year is your 3000?? Does it have electronic suspension?

I could be mistaken though, I know more about the various Stealth models than I do the 3000gt's.
