Default GT problem

Car - 1992 3000gt SL

Problem - Car wont stay on, it starts, then little by little the idle goes up and down until it finally just shuts off. When I drive it, it runs when I hit the gas, but it makes a loud clanky sound when I hit the gas. Then when I come to a stop the idle goes crazy again and it shuts off. Blows white smoke as well. I thought it was due to my power steering belt busting, but I replaced it and now the same issue.

Can anyone help?

Really? I was afraid of that. Someone on another forum mentioned that it could possibly be my MAS censor. Do you know of any nation wide chain that will let me get the codes from a check engin light?

Autozone will scan the car for free. Can you get a recording of the noise?

Thanks for the tip on the codes. Ill try to take it to a local Autozone and have them read the codes. I will also try to get a recording of the clanky sound, but for some reason it does not make the sound when in neutral or in park. It only does it when I put it in gear and drive. But when in neutral, and the car is on I can rev it and it wont make the noise. It's every gear too, not any particular gear.

bring it to a mechanic. stop trying to get an internet diagnosis. suck it up and get a professional to look it over. Your in california... try www.socal3s.com or www.norcal3s.com
