I have this HUGE problem. My 3000gt isgiving me alot of problems, it keeps smoking. Yesterday the engine was smoking so i changed the oil and after that it was fine. Now its starting to smoke out of the exhaust!!! Its white smoke, doesanyone know what that means? Also my check engine light is on now, if anyine has any info on this it would really help.

 

If it's white and steamy even with a fully warmed engine- you may have some serious issues (headgasket for one). Have someone qualified inspect your vehicle.

yeh it sounds like head gasket or rings do a compretion test symptoms of head gasget are smoke burning oil low comp heater not working overheating ect.................... i would also try and run sea foam through the pvc vaulve or intake manifould to clean injectors and vaulves thats about all i can say hope it is helpfull

 

Is it running hot? When you turn on heat does it work or is there a antifreeze smell? If you have any of those problems then my friend you have a blown or a about to blow headgasket. that is BIG BUCKS[:'(]

I am having the same problem. Mine started after I have had the battery cables off for one night. I am trying to narrow down the problem and am unable to. After I hooked the battery back up and started the engine, it sounded like my riding lawn mower and there was white smoke all over the place. The car is running extremely rough and if I am not mistaken, there is water coming out of the tailpipes and it is dark. I have tried smelling it and it does smell a little like gas but does not seem to be gas.

Mine is a 1997 base 3000GT. Does anyone have a schematic of the engine? Someone suggested that I might have accidently unplugged something on the MAS which happens to be close to the battery. I don't know much about cars but would love to trouble shoot it for myself before taking it to a shop.
