Well 91-93 are the first generation 3000gt and 94-99 are the 2nd generation 3000gt. They are good cars all around body and design motors were built strong as well. A vr-4 is a good car i own 2 of them and well from my exsperiance and anyone elses, All cars will break down no matter what kind of car it is no car is perfect but do you oil changes spark plugs transmission oil coolant anything that helps your engine perform and run good will last you some time. They are good on gas as well even being a 5-speed as well but a little pticy to keep up with a good tune up and tires all the way around. Nut your answer you arelooking for is yes it is, would be alot better being a 2nd generation but thats just me because of the 6-speed. But upon purchasing the vehicle check it out drive it and when I mean drive it punch it see what it gots any sliping in the transmission or grinding not worth and look at the miles as well. But in all go for it dont pay more than 6 grand for a 1st generation tho for that you can get a 2nd gen. But good luck and hope you find what your looking for.

Well if maintained properly, it will be an awesome car and serve you well. However, finding one that has been maintained properly, is highly unlikely.
Their common problems are: Transfer case leakage, and the older ones tend to spin bearings (if this is due to bad maintanance i dont know) If the T case is leaking you should be able to see it under the car.
Also working on them is a little harder due to them having a V6 crammed under the hood.
Oh, and if you want a totally bias opinion then ask thestealth
