Default Motor Rebuild( Boring the cylinder walls )

Hey I'm saving up for a motor rebuild new rods ,pistons, and oversived valves 1mm over maybe 2mm's, but I havent decided whether or not

to go oversived pistons I know that one of the downsides is theres a larger chance of cracking the cylinder walls so I guess Im

asking is there anymore downsides to boring the cylinder walls on 3s or just anyother car and good or bad idea ?

-thanks

Well the only downside is the lower RPM limit. The stock limiter is just fine... but on a built motor (stock bore) you can achieve a lot higher RPMs... and with a bore.. it has to be a little lower.

I didnt know that so I should just stick to stock stock bore thanks but will a larger displacement also have less turbo

No.. larger displacement will make the turbos kick in earlier.

If you arent using an aftermarket ECU then the factory rev limit will be the same on either bored out or stock bore...what i meant to say.. was the max of the stock bore will be higher... reason being.. less moving mass...but if your using the stock rev limiter.. then it doesnt matter

You can't punch these engines out very much, the most you would end up with is 3.1L. I believe the differences in lag and rev limit would be negligable.

Yea plus I was thinkin the biggest turbos I can go right mow is 15g maybe td04-16g and boring out the cylinder walls may be

overkill

im not really goin for a huge power gain but ill be able to keep it goin at high rpms all day without hurting the engine and in turn making alonger power band
