Default need help, turning my 3000GT SL from crap 2 gold...

Im 19 and my first car is a 1992 3000GT SL, my first car, and its pretty beat up from the way it sounds. far as i could tell, i found out that my car is running way too rich, has a small hole in the exhuast, and the other stuff is pretty easy exept the running too rich part. what can i do? also does anyone know where i can buy some aftermarket parts? (like exhaust, cold air intake, possably a turbo if it doesnt mess the engine up too bad, and some headers and new pistons).

Buy a better car the 3000 gt is great but limited parts. I was going to buy one and fix it but damn I had a hard time finding simple parts.

but it is really up to you. If you like it go for it CRAIGSLIST HAS A LOT OF 3000 GT for sale but just be careful who you deal with.

Where are you located, if you don't mind my asking?

E-bay has a LOT of aftermarket parts for these cars, you just need to be careful about which ones you buy, some are complete crap, but there is a lot of quality aftermarket for these cars, you just need to do a little research before you purchase anything.

as for the hole in the exhaust, any muffler/exhaust shop can fix that easily for you, and they're USUALLY reasonably priced (re: Midas, etc).

why do you continually recommend people buying another car? If they're asking for advice about their 3000GT... then give them helpful advice, don't tell them to sell their car and get a honda.

That's why I told him it is really up to him. Did I recommend Honda? I don't remember.
(if this web site adveritise other cars beside Mitsubishi I think it is not a sin to say Honda)
Ebay is good but it sounds like he is on a budget crunch, if he as the money go for it.

I recommend Craigslist because I saw a lot of 3000GT in good condition.
I buy and sell used cars that's why I know.

1991 3000GT Automatic AWD Twin Turbo
1991 Stealth R/T TT - modified
1995 3000GT Spyder - sunny day car
1996 Stealth R/T - Amethyst Pearl daily driver

Do you really have these cars. you must be so rich to afford 4 cars.
What do you do for a living?

Craigslist is great for cars, not so great for aftermarket parts. There are, however, a decent amount of listings for parted-out cars, or 3000GT/Stealth "junkyards", if you're looking for stock replacement parts. E-bay, is probably the single best place to get the lowest prices for new aftermarket parts (and a decent amount of used aftermarket parts as well). Because of the volume of parts those people sell, they are able to offer the biggest discounts. You just need to be careful which places you order from, just review their feedback a few pages back.

FAX68 - yes, those are all of my cars, and I have a few more that aren't road-worthy, or really worth mentioning because of their current state. I think in total I have about 8 or 9, something like that. I'm a professional bum/seat warmer. I'm far from rich, I'm just really good with my money

If you're in sf bay area I have a 1991 Stealth ES- salvage for sale. Only 110k on it, has body damage to front. $800.
It was my daughter's first car- her baby. Unfortunately it was parked in front of the house and a kid hit the front drivers side. Still runs good and there are many usable parts. It was a good extremely dependable 1st car. We bought it from an older lady(the first owner) and I love to drive it. It has some power, handles well and was made pretty solid out of metal. She use insur. money to buy a 2002 v6 Mustang. It is pretty but, much less power and cheaper made. Not to mention it's just another Mustang of which there are many on the road. The 1991 Stealth ES is a tough looking car (black on black) 16 inch alloy rims - it still sits really pretty and looks really nice when driving from behind(no dents there) It was her Batmobile. My 1st car was a 1975 Dodge Dart. The only thing I warn you about is that the parts are expensive. That's why we're not fixing it up. Can't pass brake and lamp inspection. I searched for an amber turn signal lens cover for it- the light works fine. I finally found one in New York state for $75 plus shipping. It could end up costing you but there are certainly worse 1st cars. Have fun.
