Default new engine for a 3000gt

i have a 1993 3000gt with an auto tranny. i got it as a 1st car but i'm now looking to upgrade it to a twin turbo. i have found an engine on ebay that comes with an auto tranny, ecu, and wiring for $1500. it says that the engine fits a 3000gt, diamante, or galante and it doesn't look like a 3000gt factory engine. here's the link:

i just dont want to end up with an engine that isn't going to fit. i'd rather not go through the trouble of getting a vr4 engine because i've heard that i would then have to convert to a manual tranny, awd, and possibly 4 wheel steering. i'd rather not do that because then i could just buy a vr4 for that price. does anyone know anything about this subject and what else i would need to complate this project?
thanks,
jordan

That engine will not fit you 3000GT. It is a reverse design with the intake, timing belt, and tranny on the wrong side. That same company is offering a 3500cc Montero engine. That would fit better than the one your looking at. For me, I would go with the exact replacement. You never know what parts you may want to transfer over to the one you end up with.

I just wrecked my 93 VR4 TT and cant fix it because of body damage, but the whole front clip and all wheel drive stuff is fine. so there is all the parts you would need to replace whats on yours, plus the clutch is a race aftermarket clutch and motor has a cone styl intake and hallman pro series manual boost controller...and the car has the motorized spoiler and and exhuast w/ touring silence option...pretty much a great donor car for someone who needs parts....let me know, would do a good deal if you buy at least the motor/trans/awd setup.

it was a pole, so it hit right between the front and rear pass side wheels, missing all the important parts, its just not repariable as far as body work is concerned, but none of the wheel alightment, all wheel drive/steering parts, or any of the front clip was touched...I did remove the fenders and front bumper becuase they were damanged cosmetically, and it would need a radiator, but the structural part of the front end wasnt hert, so all the components are fine. If you have an interest let me know and we can discuss a price, im gonna take photos of it all alround for ebay and a few other sites, so ill post em or email em to ya tomorow or this weekend. I'm willing to give a pretty good deal if someone buys the whole donor car, and even still if someone just wants the motor and trans, but ide prefer to get rid of all of it, its just taking up space in my garage...off hand whats it worth to you?
