Getting a new 2g gst/gsx or 3000gt vr4 with rebuilt engine, blown turbo, etc.
I decided to get a 2g gst/gsx or 3000gt vr4 but some have rebuilt engine should I invest in it and also another 2g gst that I saw with bov, turbo timer, and all the good stuff but the owner blew the evo III turbo that he upgraded too. Also anyone have 1 for sale let me know {in Denver, CO}. Looking for 1 that have a clear title, not anything over $7500.
This was kinda complicated to read but i will try and answer it.
- The one with a rebuilt engine, if he has reciepts by a reputable shop then thats not a bad car. Just make sure to ask why it was rebuilt in the first place because who knows what kinda damage they might have done to it.
- The modded one i would be careful of that he didnt do any internal damamge to the engine when he blew the turbo, And exactly had is the turbo destroyed. Because if its because he was pushing too much boost on it there maybe a whole mess of other problems you could have down the road. My best advise is for the price range your looking in you should be able to find a stock fairly low mileage one online and have somewhat peice of mind that it hasnt been trashed

that's sum great advise right there ^^^^^^i bought a 97 eclipse gst with a 6 bolt swap in it. The swap was done by a so-called reputable shop. And one thing kept going after another, it's been horrible. And i started looking at things closer, and realized that they hacked it together. I was so shocked because they are well known in the boston area. But learned to always have someone else look at it, even when buyig from a shop or something built by a shop. And for eclipses, the more stock you can get, the more reliable it'll be.
And i deff agree that you should be very careful with the car that blew the turbo. And he is right it prolly was blown pushing too much boost which means the motos raedy to, or already is falling apart.

If you buy either car, sounds like you're gonna be tearing some stuff out and putting some new stuff in. Hope you got lots of $$. I would be extremely careful about buying someone else's modded car because you know you didn't do it yorself or you yourself haven't taken it to somewhere that you know well to have it done so who knows what's going on in that motor. You should try to find a stock one (good luck there) and just start from scratch on it yourself. That's what I did with mine and I know everything little thing that has been done to my Eclipse and I feel a lot more comfortable that way.
I use to live in lexington, but moved to north reading about a year ago. And the garage that built it was avi in newton. It belonged to sum1 who works there, which means they actually tried, or at least thatswhat I figure. And that's y u should never buy a car that has a swap in it. Buy as stock as u can. A couple bolt ons won't hurt, but once u get a car. Change all the fluids, cuz u don't kno when the last person did them
