I took the car to an AAMCO just to get a free checkup. The guy was test driving my 3000GT with me inside of course. He was driving it reguraly trying to find the grinding so i told him he really had to lay into it so he did and the worse grinding i heard was downshifting into 2nd gear at 4000RPM from 3rd Gear and it sounded pretty bad. Some minimal grinding in 3rd but not that much. He told me the Synchro's in those gears are bad or getting there. If you were to drive the car normal no grinding to be found you have to drive it really hard to find it. If you downshift into 2nd above 3000RPM it will grind. The guy when i bought it said it had a new Transmission and Clutch it was from a pretty reputable dealership. The guy at AAMCO said to make sure it is that They would inspect the transmission( meaning taking it out and opening it up) for 400 dollars and to replace the Synchro's for those gears would cost me maxium if that is it will be 1,500 dollars. I read how people put Synchromesh in their transmission and stops the occasional grinding. But does my case imply with that. And is that a good price to get the synchros replaced. Thanks
