Default Noobie here need to know...

... about a 1994 3000 GT SL with 114,211 miles. If you cant tell by my name, Im an American car, or Corvette guy and I have no clue about 3000 GTs. Ive always that they were good looking cars and I finally found a 3000GT for sale around my area. So me being new to imports, I need to know the essentials of the 3000GT, like power, handling, maintenance issues, mechnical issues, things of that nature.

If you guys can help me I would appreciate it greatly.

your will be NA and have 222hp to the crank...it is the same car as the dodge stealth...and they are pretty long lasting vehicles if taken care of properly.

What specifically are you wanting to know? What are your goals for the car?

Like David said, the SL has about 222hp at the crank. The SL is a FWD car. Fast it is not.

I got a friend that owns a few Mitsubishis and Suburas and Im going to get one of his cars axle and transmission and good stuff like that and make the 3000GT AWD. I plan on making it a street machine and I know that will take some work considering that this car is really weak. This car will be about power, not looks. But my ultimate goal is to beat my dads twin turbo'd C5 Corvette. It can be done but it will take time and Ill willing to do it.

But heavy, it most certainly is.

Making the car AWD is not a bolt on affair. You will have to fabricate some of the brackets the rear sub frame bolts too. It has been done a couple times...but in all honesty, you'd be better off just getting a vr4. It will take time...and money...to outrun your dad's TT vette...you'd better have damn deep pockets.

The SL's and RT's weigh in around 3300lbs. Not a lightweight, but not nearly as heavy as their TT brethren that tip the scales at a shade over 3800lbs.

It will take QUITE a bit of work to get an SL to take out a TT'd C5... I couldnt even imagine taking that kind of time on an SL...IMO
