I am looking to buy a 97 VR-4, Is there any known problems with this year? Especially with the turbos or trany? Thank you for your time

That's a good year for a VR4. Good luck finding one for a decent price! Its about 1997 that they started to become exceedingly scarce, as not many were offered from 97-99. Last one I saw at a used sports car place, was a red one with 35,000 miles on it and a $26,000 price tag. There are no known problems with any year VR4 other than a transfer case recall and a problem with brake lines tearing. Those recalls may be 1st gen cars though.(all safety recalls are fixed by a mitsu dealer free of charge, regardless) I'm quite certain that of the 15,537 TOTAL VR4's ever sold in the US from 91-99, there were less than1,000 97's sold, less than600 98's sold, and less than275 99's sold. (I lost my stats, but those are pretty accurate numbers) VR4's are pretty uncommon in general, but 97's, 98's, and 99's arereally rare, and the used prices still reflect that fact.( a nice 99 is still going for $30,000 or so )
