Default Reaching spark plugs on 1994 GT

Hey there,

I have a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000 GT and I did a really stupid thing. I let all the water run out of my radiator. I thought it was being checked when I had the oil changed but I guess not. Anyway, the top blew on the radiator while I was on the expressway. Now the care won't start. The engine grinds but does not try to kick over.

I have refilled the fluid, obviously, and replace the cap. I tried putting a little gas in the filter to get it going but nothing happens. It just grinds. I am trying to check the plugs--the wires are fine--but I have a problem. When i get to the wires and try to reach the plugs, the wires go down into an small cylinder area that and I cannot see the plugs at all. The wires do not pull up or out with a little force and that is all I have tried so far is a little force. I have never seen anything like this before. Can anyone tell me how to reach the actual plugs so I can remove the coils. Thanks for any help you can give.

Also, if you have any other ideas about what I should check, please let me know.

Sincerely,

LM

To get to the spark plugs in our car is a lot of trouble honestly.

The front 3 are very easy though. Take off the cover that is held on by a couple screws and simply pull out the plugs. It does take some force to take out the plugs though.

You then have access to the front 3 spark plugs and can unscrew them if you need to.

The other 3 plugs are a pain to get too. I had to take of the air intake, several bolts near the throttle body, and you have to remove the entire upper intake plenum. And to top it off, you have to replace the gasket that is there whenever you take this off.

You then have access to the 3 plugs in the back.

Be sure to know the proper torque measurments when doing this so damage is not done.

I did this once by myself to change my spark plugs and I will probably never do this again. I will probably take it to a mechanic to have them do it for me than waste the time and stress.

Good thing is that our spark plugs don't need to be changed very often.

I hope I helped some of your problem.

If not, try looking online for detailed step by step picture instructions. That is what helped me a lot.

sounds like you seized your engine up. Sorry, but changing your spark plugs will not fix the problem. You will most likely need a new engine.
