94-99. Im going to refrain from giving my opinion on this one. Basically as the stealth would say.... as long as it has been maintained properly and not abused... they are all as good as eachother. However the newer ones do look a little better and have less miles. If you have the means i highly suggest you take advantage

99 if you can do it. I love that front... not too hot about the spoiler.

If its just looks you want, you can go for an older VR4 and change the headlights and bumper

well i was curious about hp on a vr4. how much hp would it be pushing after tune it with these mods?
greddy bov
ips downpipe
FMIC
TDO4 turbos
660cc injectors
fuel management
fuel pump
boost controller
maf sensor + maf translato+djon intake pipes kit+ filters
can anyone estimate how much i would be pushing after this upgrade on a '96 vr4? im thinking about 550-600hp.

What size turbos? What are you using for engine managment? Plan on using meth or propane injection?
Even with those mods, you might have a hard time reaching your goals with pump gas...

i'm thinking of TDO4 from 3sx. and probably use propane injection. i just want to hit at least 500-600hp. that's my goal here.

You should spend a little extra now and go for a td05 set up since 500-600hp is your goal.
