seats
Im fairly certain that the harness youre referring to is the factory harness for the infinity sound system amp,This is however the first 3000gt Ive dealt with,and might indeed be wrong,concerning seats,My drivers side has a bad spot on the lower back portion,and the seats Ive seen on ebay have bad places in the same spot.....ive found that when getting into the car(and im not a lard-***) this is the first place that causes resistance when getting in...anyone ever bought seat covers for one of the beauties(that actually fit)?
On the Factory Infinity sound system they comprised of basically 4 components,the steering wheel controls,dash unit(Radio).amplifier which was mounted under the passengers side seat,and cd changer mounted in the rear behind the seats.
Im not sure if all 3000gts were fitted with the infinity system,or maybe just the LS versions and above,but after having no less than 5 eclipses from 95 up,i never saw an infinity system in one of them.
The harness thats under the passengers side seat(If its the infinity system harness) will have two connectors on it,one will be rectangular with a buttload of wires going to it,and the other will be a round connector with male pins in it.

Thanks for that info,which brings me to another question...Ive heard the term first,and second generation quite alot since getting into the DSMs,what exactly seperates the first,and second generations?
Is this only applicable to the 3000gts,or does it encompass the Eclipses,and Talons as well?

There were 3 different generations of the 3KGT...
91-93= 1st gen
94-98= 2nd gen
99 = 3rd gen
...and only 2 for Stealths
91-93= 1st gen
94-96= 2nd gen
There was very little that changed over the years.
I don't know that much about DSM's, but I think the newest Eclipse is the 4 generation. Don't take that to the bank though.

Got it,Actually DSMs covered all the Talons,Eclipses,and Lasers,as Im sure youre aware of this was a marraige of Mitsubishi,and Chrysler,I asked an internet buddy quite some time ago if the 3000gt was actually a DSM,his response was the 3000gt and Stealth were indeed DSM vehicles,but their owners dont want to admitt it...I have yet however to find any DSM classification on the car as was in the last project car..97 Talon..Thanks again for the info...
You can tell your friend with confidence that your car is in fact NOT a DSM. The Eclipse/Talon/Lazer were all built in Normal, Ill. under the Diamond Star Motors umbrella. The Stealth and 3kgt were built in the same plant in Japan.
Yep...Kinda figured that, I never really thought of the GT as a DSM anyway,as the gt seems to be MUCH more of a car than the talons/Eclipses Im used to...Thanks again for the info,Im learnin more about my little black GT every day[&:]
